CAMOGIE HISTORY

Camogie is a field sport very similar to hurling.

The difference is in a slight variation of the rules and is played only by women and girls.

The Milwaukee Hurling Club has offered camogie since 2000. Since then it has grown in both number and spirit. We encourage anyone interested to participate in our weekly practices where skills and camaraderie are enhanced. At Irish Fest each year, the camogie club fields two full teams to showcase the sport.

The Clash, the MHC's competitive camogie team, competes against other camogie clubs throughout the country.

In 2005, the team was invited to participate once again in the North American Gaelic Athletic Association Championships, which were held in Philadelphia.

The MHC encourages any young women interested to participate in this century-old tradition. Please email milwaukeehurling@yahoo.com for more information.
